Man U, Newcastle interested in Marc Bernal, Barcelona set to agree new contract

Manchester United and Newcastle United are interested in triggering Marc Bernal’s release clause, but the player is set to sign a new Barcelona deal.
According to Moises Llorens of ESPN, there’s serious interest from Premier League sides, who are interested in Marc Bernals. Manchester United and Newcastle United are keen to trigger his current release clause, but the 17-year-old is ready to sign a new deal at Barcelona to prolong his career here.

Barcelona continued to find internal solutions to their problems on the field, as Joan Laporta has increasingly leaned towards promoting youngsters from La Masia. Since he took over as president a few years back, Laporta has overseen radical changes, including the exit of superstar Lionel Messi.

Between then and now, Barcelona have seen a massive influx of La Masia talents coming into the first-team field, including the likes of Gavi, Alejandro Balde, Fermin Lopez, Pablo Torre and most recently, Marc Bernal. With the exit of Ilkay Gundogan in the summer, Bernal came into the spotlight, as he began the season positively before suffering an unfortunate season-ending ACL rupture.

The midfielder had interest from Premier League sides in the summer but chose to sign a deal back in July to commit himself to Barcelona. That initial extension complied with UEFA regulations concerning minor players, which ties him down until 2026, with a reported release clause of 20 million.

Despite his serious injury, clubs in the Premier League, such as Newcastle United and Manchester United, are eager to trigger the current clause to sign the player. However, they may have to wait for many more years as the 17-year-old wonderkid is set to sign another contract with the Catalans that will secure his long-term future at the club.

Marc Bernal to sign new Barcelona deal
Having only signed a recent extension, Barcelona are serious about keeping Bernal for the long-term future and are set to agree on a new deal with him, according to Jijantes. The teenager will sign his contract at the end of the week, which comes with a 500 million release clause, and will trigger a three-year extension once he turns 18 next May.

Hence, Barcelona have nothing to worry about the future of Bernal, in whom they have faith for the future despite his serious injury. For those Premier League sides, it will be a blow, considering his current release clause would have landed them a player of solid quality with a bright future ahead.
