Arsenal rival Liverpool, Manchester City in Hugo Larsson chase
Premier League giants Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City are all vying for Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Larsson ahead of January.
According to Caught Offside, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City are all interested in Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Hugo Larsson ahead of the January window. The Swedish midfielder has made a big impression in the market, although the German side will demand a significant fee of as much as €80 million to sell him.
Eintracht Frankfurt might have had a disappointing end to the previous season, finishing a distant sixth, knowing well there were five Champions League spots for the taking. Now, in the Europa League and also with a decent start to the Bundesliga season, they have a few key players to bank upon.
One of them was the 2023 signing Hugo Larsson, with the midfielder making sure he’s spoken about as one of the prominent talents in the German league following an excellent first season at Frankfurt. The midfielder could soon find himself in the thick of transfer talk, as a host of Premier League sides are showing an interest.
Arsenal and Liverpool did admire him at the end of January, and could revive their interest. The Gunners, in particular, are eager to sign one of the exciting talents in European football, as Frankfurt are likely to demand a significant fee, even as much as €80 million, for the 20-year-old Swede.
The Gunners have kept tabs on the midfielder as they are planning for life ahead, as influential duo Jorginho and Thomas Partey are coming to the end of their contracts. Whether he is considered as a replacement for one of those will have to be seen, as he might become a player of acute interest for Mikel Arteta. Arsenal will look to negotiate with Frankfurt for the midfielder but face competition from domestic rivals.
Liverpool and Manchester City keen on Larsson
Liverpool is eager to bolster their midfield, and going by Larsson’s profile, he might be a proper fit under Arne Slot. The €80 million-rated Bundesliga midfielder’s ability to play in the boxes, as well as slot in as a defensive midfielder, makes more sense from a Liverpool point of view, as they tried signing a player of that style during the summer.
Meanwhile, Manchester City are searching for a Rodri replacement following the Spanish midfielder’s season-ending injury suffered last Sunday. Should they decide to go hard in the January window, Man City might have to pay significantly for Larsson, although he does fir the profile to replace the Spaniard.
