Barcelona eyeing Mykhailo Mudryk swoop

Barcelona are reportedly keen on Mykhailo Mudryk, who could leave Chelsea after being sidelined by Enzo Maresca.
According to Inter-Live, Barcelona are reportedly interested in Mykhailo Mudryk, as Hansi Flick’s side could look at the Ukranian as an alternative to Nico Williams. The winger has lost his spot at Chelsea to new arrivals Pedro Neto and Jadon Sancho, as an exit from the club seems imminent.

Chelsea made a massive effort to sign Mykhailo Mudryk back in January 2023, as they pipped Arsenal for his signature. Despite showing flashes of his talent in his early days, the winger has barely found form in the 18 months since his move from Shakhtar Donetsk.

Chelsea have shown massive patience with the winger, and despite Enzo Maresca’s harsh comments earlier in the campaign, Mudryk was set to take a vital role in his squad. However, the late arrivals of Pedro Neto and Jadon Sancho do send a message to the Ukranian, as he has barely played since the arrival of the duo.

Mudryk could leave Chelsea in January, as there are some clubs keen on his signature, and by the time that window opens, Maresca would have established the likes of Sancho and Neto ahead of him. There’s interest from Bayern Munich and Marseille, while Barcelona are the latest team to show interest.

The exciting part is that the report states Barcelona are looking at Mudryk as a replacement for Robert Lewandowski, for which they have other names like Viktor Gyokeres on their radar. However, the interest in the exit-linked Mudryk could be more as an alternative to Nico Williams rather than the Pole.

Is Mudryk an alternative to Williams?
Barcelona tried their level best to sign Williams in the summer, but multiple factors prevented the winger from leaving Athletic Club. However, there’s always a future window for the Catalans to try again for the Spanish international, as a January approach could well become a possibility.

Should they fail in their pursuit of Williams, someone like Mudryk could be an alternative of sorts. While Chelsea will not expect to recoup anything close to what they paid for the winger, Barcelona are unlikely to make a permanent move for the Ukranian, as they would most likely make a loan approach for the wide attacker in January.
